What does SaaS mean to you?
When I talk to people about what is offered at Coastland Technologies, I often find myself explaining how the Internet is changing everything.
And just like everything else these days, Coastland Technologies is constantly changing too.
As all of the ways that we do business in today's online world, need to be re-invented over and over again, we have to work hard to stay as current and up to date with the technology as necessary.
Especially when it comes to the software that runs everything. And that's why a new model of software for on-demand service is becoming more and more important.
This new model of software is known as SaaS (typically pronounced 'sass'), which is the acronym for Software as a Service. The motive behind SaaS is to make these new kind of software applications easy to use and more web-oriented.
Back in the past, Email was one of the first services to go this way. Most people have been using Webmail services like Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail for years, but may not realize what they represent. Since these are web-based email services, that means they're SaaS too.
Most new Web sites are now made with Content Management Systems or CMS for short. The CMS framework that this website is built with is also a Saas model.
Many of the websites that are hosted at Coastland Technologies are built this way, and as we go forward, more and more of our services will be web-based SaaS methods too.

In simple language, with the SaaS model

- B) you can install and setup your website with our user control panel
- C) you can build your website or blog or shopping cart with built-in design tools
Now you also need to know that using SaaS as a method, means that you do not need to download software on your local system. And much of the extra costs for what it took to work with the old kind of software tools, has been reduced to very low or little cost at all.
This is really good news for you when you consider that it means that everything is easier with SaaS, doesn't cost as much with SaaS, and now with SaaS, you don't have to take any extra steps to get the tools set up on your system. With SaaS, it's all done for you... right there in your browser.
